Inmate was unwell, requested methadone before death at jail

Gerald Burnouf had been in and out of hospital, police and jail custody in the days before he was found unresponsive in his cell at Saskatoon Correctional Centre on Oct. 8, 2016.
On Monday a Coroner’s Inquest heard that Burnouf, 49, who was also known as Gerald Laliberte, wasn’t well, appeared to be withdrawing from drug use the day before his death and repeatedly asked for methadone that day.
