Immigration says man trying not to be deported had criminal record
KINDERSLEY — Immigration officials say a Venezuelan man who is facing deportation from Saskatchewan had been charged with domestic violence, burglary, assault and property damage in the U.S. years before he entered Canada.
Federal officials tell CTV News that Wilmer Gonzalez, who entered Canada in February 2014, was charged in 2006 and sentenced to 180 days in jail.
He filed a refugee claim in 2014, but the claim was denied because of the charges and conviction.
