Hundreds die from diabetes each year in Saskatchewan — but why?

Cheryl James remembers feeling “disgusted” when she heard the testimony about the care her sister received at the Regional Psychiatric Centre.
Kinew James was diagnosed with diabetes just before she arrived at RPC, Cheryl said. Kinew had told her it was hard to change what she ate because of the stressful environment.
“It was just the guards who would stress them out and they would want to eat something. She would want to eat something she shouldn’t be eating,”
