Gardening: Late summer border blues

Here it is, the beginning of September, and in spite of a stressful summer in terms of hail, a few of weeks of extreme heat and little rain, the perennial border is still going strong. Blue and yellow seem to predominate. They’re a good combination as blue by itself can become lost (“faded” in full sun and in a dark hole in the shade) and the yellows and gold bring out the best in blues in terms of colour.
