One of my favourite words as a child was “spelunking,” When I first saw it, I couldn’t believe it was a word. It sounded made up. As I got older, I realized that all words are made up. If they weren’t, there wouldn’t be any words at all.
Spelunking is the hobby of exploring caves. I’ve never spelunked: it’s difficult to spelunk when you’re devoted to sitting at a desk all day, trying to think of words.
