First Nation taking government mine accommodation proposal to members
A Saskatchewan First Nation is asking its members to weigh in on the provincial government’s plan to minimize the effect on treaty rights of a proposed $1.4 billion diamond mine in the adjacent Fort à la Corne forest.
The Ministry of Environment earlier this year submitted a draft list of “accommodations” to the James Smith Cree Nation, the latest step in the environmental assessment process for Star Diamond Corp.’s project.
