Dr. Booze: Portuguese wines offer good quality at lower price points
I’ve had a soft spot for Portuguese wines since 2008 when we visited the country. I fell in love with the place, and especially the wines from the Douro. (Their ham is nothing to sniff at, either.)
The thing you need to know is that their dry table wines are ALWAYS a bargain. It doesn’t matter what the price point is, the quality is significantly higher than wines from other countries at the same price. We had absolutely fabulous wine whether we paid six or 60 Euros.
