Many First Nations across Canada had day schools where the children could attend primary grades before going on to high school at a boarding school.
Most of the day schools were church-run and in the 1960s the Department of Indian Affairs began the process of integrating students into local off-reserve schools.
First Nations education has a long history of failure and incompetence. From the residential schools to the day schools to the integrated joint schools there was no parental involvement o
