Dayday decries demise of direct democracy in Saskatoon

Former Saskatoon mayor Henry Dayday continues to advocate for referendums to help decide the city’s big issues.
Direct democracy was once a fixture in Saskatoon, but 15 years have passed since the last vote, a contentious campaign that ultimately rejected a downtown casino.

Q: Why do you think it’s been 15 years without a referendum?
A: I have no idea. I have always felt that it’s the taxpayer that pays the bill at t
