Council to consider restriction on money for third-party projects

City hall staff will try to come up with a policy designed to prevent the city from making big contributions to third-party projects outside of the budget process.
City council voted unanimously on Tuesday to explore a formal policy, in response to a motion by Coun. Darren Hill to try to prevent such contributions in the future. In February, city council voted 6-5 to give an extra $3 million to the University of Saskatchewan’s $42.9-million twin-pad rink project.
