Council backs garbage user fees, new organics program

Saskatoon city council voted narrowly Monday to introduce a new organics program and to charge user fees for trash collection.
The changes are expected in 2020 and would apply only to single-family homes. The new mandatory curbside collection program for organic waste like food and yard clippings will be paid for by property tax.
