City asks residents to use caution around river during heatwave

As Saskatoon experiences a heat wave that is expected to continue into the weekend, the City of Saskatoon is reminding residents to be careful around the South Saskatchewan River.
Citing hazards such as changing currents and unstable riverbeds, the city is suggesting people seek refuge from the heat at any of the city’s paddling pools, spray pads or outdoor pools. For those who do choose to play around the river, the city is suggesting wading in the water, rather than swimming.
