Alavida to take clients from Saskatchewan for online alcohol abuse program

An online-based counselling program for people dealing with alcohol addictions plans to take Saskatchewan clients starting Dec. 11.
Alavida, which launched in Vancouver last September, does not require its clients to abstain from alcohol. Instead, clients choose the extent to which they want reduce their alcohol use. They meet with counsellors and physicians remotely via e-conferencing. The remote doctors also prescribe naltrexone, an opioid antagonist approved by Health Canada.
