Terra International fined for 2016 ammonia spill

A fertilizer producer was fined $112,500 recently in Sarnia court, for an ammonia gas release in 2016 that caused road closures, and allegedly caused people nausea and difficulty breathing.
The Terra International (Canada) Inc. spill Aug. 11, 2016 in St. Clair Township released 997 kilograms of ammonia gas into the air over two hours, Ontario’s Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks said, in a news release.
