County council nixes planning change for Sarnia Harbour highrise

An official plan amendment to allow a 14-storey apartment building to rise near the Cargill grain terminal on Sarnia Bay was rejected Wednesday by Lambton County council.The changes were backed conditionally backed by city council in May, but the county is the approval authority for local official plan amendments, a county report said.The planning changes for the proposed Tricar Properties Ltd. highrise on Harbour Road are opposed by Cargill, which ships 35 per cent of the grain grown in Ontari
