Zapad – photos from exercise that is causing angst in NATO

The Zapad joint strategic exercise, with troops from Russia and the Republic of Belarus, started on Sept. 14. It will run until Sept. 20.
The exercise involves almost 13,000 troops, about 70 aircraft and helicopters, up to 680 pieces of military hardware including about 250 tanks, up to 200 guns, MLRSs and mortars as well as 10 warships, according to the Russian defence ministry.
The exercise is held at ranges located in the Republic of Belarus as well as in the Kaliningrad, Leningrad, and Pskov
