Workers dig out excavator in fatal Outaouais quarry landslide

Workers have finally succeeded in digging out the mechanical shovel in which a worker died when the equipment was buried in a gravel pit landslide early this month.
Equipment operator Daniel Dompierre, 31, died Nov. 1 when the excavator he was operating was buried at the pit near Highway 105 at Farrellton after a large amount of sand slid down from the wall of the pit.
It took first responders about one week to devise a safe plan to remove the victim’s body. The plan was devised by ge
