The Liberals and the NDP cheered for Doug Ford’s victory in the race for the Ontario Progressive Conservative leadership in the spring, because his negatives in public opinion polling far exceeded those of his opponents. Nevertheless, Ford’s Conservatives triumphed resoundingly in the general election.
