Windy warning 'heralds' cold front, with temps plunging in afternoon

To start the day off right, here’s today’s Special Weather Statement from Environment Canada:
“Strong southwest winds gusting to 70 to 80 km/h will herald the arrival of the cold front, along with quickly falling temperatures.”
The wind warning has prompted Renfrew County to cancel school buses. It’s also suspected in a power failure affecting about 1,000 clients in the Elgin Street area.
