Warming centre open after Blackburn Hamlet gas line, water main break

City hall reported Friday afternoon that it had opened the Bob MacQuarrie Recreation Complex as an emergency warming centre for Blackburn Hamlet residents affected by gas line and water main breaks.
“The gas and water outage is expected to last for several hours and the weather forecast is calling for frigid temperatures,” the city said although a spokesman could not immediately say how many residents were affected.
