Use of licence plate recognition technology results in charges against man
A man with addresses in both Renfrew County and West Kelowna, B.C., faces four charges after the car he was driving on Montreal Road was identified by the Automatic Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system.
Ottawa police started rolling out the ALPR technology in 2016. The system allows officers to scan up to 5,000 plates an hour and helps police crack down on road safety infractions and stolen vehicles.
