U.S. welcomes Russian proposal for peacekeeping troops for Ukraine but with a caveat
Earlier this week Russia announced it would ask the United Nations to send peacekeeping troops to eastern Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin told journalists Tuesday that armed peacekeepers could provide safety for staff of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) which is monitoring the ceasefire there. “It would help resolve the problem in eastern Ukraine,” said Putin.
