UPDATE: ByWard Market bear released back into the wilderness

A stand off between public safety officials and a two-year-old black bear ended with a crowd of onlookers cooing over the opportunity to get up close and personal with Ottawa wildlife on Thursday morning.
The bear, which had climbed into a tree behind a commercial building housing two restaurants, was apprehended after being shot with a tranquilizer dart and locked away in a special cage on Murray Street.
