Unexpected snow Wednesday evening results in numerous collisions

A sudden dump of snow snarled traffic in and around Ottawa on Wednesday evening, with Environment Canada issuing a winter weather travel advisory at 5:45 p.m.
Snow, heavy at times, affected the region Wednesday evening.
At about 7, Environment Canada said the advisory had ended. But the collisions in the national capital region continued into the night.
