Tornado aftermath: Food bank has spent $800,000
The Ottawa Food Bank has spent almost $800,000 to feed the hungry in the wake of six tornadoes that swept across the region six weeks ago.
The outlays included $300,000 in gift cards for affected people, $227,000 to buy food and $66,000 for a heavy-duty generator for the food bank’s own warehouse, the agency said in a report issued Wednesday.
