The road less gravelled: Why can't the city get repairs right?
Those who think our roads need dramatic improvement saw some progress in last week’s city budget, but that progress is small compared to the size of problem.
The city says it will boost road-repair spending by $8 million, and some of the $10 million councillors added to infrastructure repairs at the last minute will likely go to roads as a onetime addition. However, the gap between what the city will spend and what it should spend to keep roads in good repair is still $41 million a year.
