Teepee ceremony is 'peaceful,' says Parliament security after issuing trespass notices

Ten people banned for six months from Parliament Hill after raising a teepee there were given notices of trespass — a tool police anywhere in Canada can use to move people away from a scene without charging them.
The 10 were part of a group that brought the teepee to the Hill Wednesday night, on behalf of indigenous people and as a ceremonial presence.
Trespass notices can be for various lengths of time. There’s no charge or court appearance.
