SUV slides over Champlain Bridge following head-on crash injuring six

Five people were taken to hospital and the Champlain Bridge was closed in both directions Wednesday night after a head-on collision.
Several of the victims were trapped and had to be extricated from the two vehicles.
A spokesman for the Ottawa Paramedic Service said the head-on collision happened about 8:43 p.m. at the exit to Bate Island, which is part-way across the bridge.
One vehicle involved, an SUV, slid over the edge of the pavement and onto the embankment, about 15 metres from the water.
