Stay off dangerously thin ice on rivers and ponds, fire department warns after 10 rescue teams deployed

The fire department is warning people to stay off local waterways after its water rescue teams were deployed 10 times for reports of dogs or people who appeared to be in distress in the last week.
People were taking “unnecessary risks by being on the ice,” Ottawa Fire Services said, noting that pet owners, young kids and teens were among them.
