South-end office building evacuated in propane tank fire

A Rideau Glen-area office building was safely evacuated Tuesday morning after a propane tank on the roof caught on fire.
Firefighters reported they were cooling the 100-pound tank.
Alarms sounded at the building on Leikin Drive near Merivale Road in the city’s south end at 8:44 a.m.
While on their way, fire crews learned that there was a fire in a construction area on the roof. They found the burning cylinder of propane and determined flames had not spread.
The fire department hailed emplo
