Snowmobile crashes through ice on Mississippi River at Pakenham, driver unhurt

Ontario Provincial Police have renewed warnings about the dangers of open water and thin ice at this time of year after a man driving a snowmobile crashed through ice on the Mississippi River in Pakenham.
The snowmobiler was not injured in the incident on Fridayt, said OPP Sgt. Cynthia Savard. He managed to get off the vehicle and scramble to safety, but his snowmobile sank in the river near the Pakenham Bridge, said Savard.
