SIU investigating after 30-year-old man dies following Elmvale mall confrontation

Police vehicles, yellow tape and blood-stained pavement marked the scene Thursday morning where a man was fatally shot by police outside an Ottawa mall.
The series of events that led to the death of the 30-year-old outside the Elmvale Acres Shopping Centre is now under review by investigators with the provincial police watchdog.
Officers had been called to the mall around 8 a.m. in response to reports that someone dressed in all black had been seen entering the building with a knife in his hand.
