Shook: Trudeau government should re-think how it pays prisoners

The federal government should reconsider a decision, made in 2013, that imposed a 30 per cent pay cut on prisoners’ wages, for the work they do that contributes to the operation and maintenance of the prison. 
The justification for the clawback was to account for the cost of food and accommodation. The then-Conservative government also cut the $2.20 per hour payment prisoners received  for their productive labour at CORCAN, the correctional service’s “training centre.
