Shantz: Let's commend the courage of Carleton to end police internships
Last week, Carleton University's Institute of Criminology and Criminal Justice (ICCJ) announced a rather groundbreaking series of changes on how it would relate to institutions of criminal justice, including police and prisons. Referencing the significance of Black Lives Matter and Indigenous justice movements, ICCJ noted in a statement that criminal justice institutions have failed to properly acknowledge systemic racism or eliminate anti-Black and anti-Indigenous practices and policies.
