Serious collision on Highway 7 in Carleton Place closes both lanes

A serious collision causing injuries on Friday afternoon led to the extended closure of Highway 7 near Carleton Place while Ontario Provincial Police investigated.
The highway remained closed in both directions between Townline Road and Highway 15, OPP said in a media release at about 11 p.m.
Detours had been set up from Townline Road to McNeely Avenue, the media release added, and it was expected that Highway 7 would remain closed for several more hours.
Motorists were asked to avoid the area.
