Senators drop second straight shootout to open season

Detroit Red Wings netminder Jimmy Howard won the goaltenders’ duel Saturday as the Ottawa Senators dropped their second consecutive shootout to open the season.
Howard was perfect in the shootout, while Frans Nielsen was the lone Red Wings shooter to score in the penalty shot competition, allowing the Red Wings to skate out of the Canadian Tire Centre with a 2-1 win.
Once again, the Senators had their chances to put the game away in overtime. The Senators faile
