Royal Oak cleared of wrongdoing in drunk patron's death
A Divisional Court appeal panel says staff at the Royal Oak pub in Orléans took “reasonable and adequate” steps to cut off and remove a drunk patron who later died in a nearby snow bank.
The body of the man — he’s identified in court documents only as S.S. — was found covered in snow on a well-used path behind the Royal Oak three days after he left the St. Joseph Boulevard bar.
An exact time of death could not be established.
