In my 20-plus years of writing about jazz, a few conversations that I’ve had with jazz musicians stick out. One was an interview more than five years ago with the Denver, Colorado-based cornet player Ron Miles. As I wrote in the resulting feature that you can read if you scroll down, Miles came across as “as one of the jazz world’s true nice guys… unfailingly positive, polite, forthright, generous in his praise of others and funny.”
