RIP, Roy Hargrove

Roy Hargrove, a Grammy-winning trumpeter who flew the flag for mainstream and funky jazz for almost three decades, died Saturday of cardiac arrest, NPR reports. Once a young lion who burst onto the jazz scene in the 1990s in the wake of Wynton Marsalis’s successes, Hargrove was just 49.
