Queensway Carleton Hospital remains in 'Code Orange' as 16 patients await beds

The Queensway Carleton Hospital remained in an internal “Code Orange” on Saturday, with 16 admitted patients in the emergency department waiting for beds and all in-patient care space filled beyond capacity.
On Friday, the hospital announced that it had 20 patients waiting for beds, and asked the public to stay away over the weekend unless they truly had an emergency. A Code Orange is put in place when the hospital has used all of its beds and all of its “surge” capacity.
