Power outages cause of downtown elevator chaos on Thursday

Several areas of Ottawa were affected by power surges and outages around 6 p.m. on Thursday, with emergency crews eventually responding to seven different calls to help people stuck in elevators.
Fire officials said the calls all came in with a one-hour period and forced them to scramble to Nepean Street, Canterbury Avenue and Titan Private to free people who were stuck inside the lifts.
