Police lay charges in Buddha statue vandalism

Ottawa police have charged a man after a Buddha statue was damaged outside of an Ottawa monastery on May 17.
The damage marked the second time someone had allegedly attempted to vandalize the Buddha statue at the Hilda Jayewardenaramaya Buddhist Monastery, near the intersection of Heron Road and Alta Vista Drive.
A man was caught on security video around 12:45 am damaging the statue. In the video, a man carrying a piece of lumber in his left hand is seen crossing the road to the temple
