Pedestrian trapped beneath car in Vanier crash dies

A man in his 60s died after suffering chest injuries early Friday afternoon when he was struck and trapped beneath a car in Vanier, Ottawa paramedics said.
Firefighters arrived at the crash shortly after noon and found the victim trapped beneath one of the car’s wheels.
They were able to lift the vehicle off the victim by about 12:27 p.m. using extrication equipment and paramedics immediately began care, the fire department said.
