Pedestrian killed after struck by train near Smiths Falls Friday

A Via Rail train traveling from Ottawa to Toronto struck a pedestrian near Smiths Falls Friday causing lengthy delays along the corridor.
According to a Via spokesperson, train #43 was involved in the collision around 12:30 p.m.
The train, with some 100 people on board, hit the pedestrian in the Township of Montague on Sturgess Road, about 60 kilometres southwest of Ottawa.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
