Parents should err on the side of caution when considering summer safety

For many kids, summer is a time for sleeping in, swimming, playing outside and having adventures. But the season puts new pressures on parents to balance fun and safety while children are out of school.
According to The Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa, there are three main areas of concern: how to judge when children can be left alone at home, protecting children from the effects of sun and heat, and keeping kids safe when playing in or around water.
