Outlook for man pulled from mud of the drained Rideau Canal is 'grim'

The outlook for a man pulled from the mud of the drained Rideau Canal is “grim,” Ottawa paramedics believe.
The man was found lying in the mud of the canal bottom a little after 10 p.m. Thursday. He appeared to be in his 30s.
Paramedics said he was in cardiac arrest, so they began resuscitating him in the mud, and continued to work on him on the way to hospital.
He was listed in critical condition.
