Ottawa River levels rise due to snowmelt runoff
Water levels are expected to rise over the weekend on the Ottawa River.
Snowmelt runoff from the nearby watershed – an area where rain or snow drains or seeps into a body of water – is expected to work its way into the Ottawa River. This, combined with the rainy weather, is expected to cause the river to rise, according to the Ottawa River Regulation Planning Board.
While extensive flooding is not expected at this time, the board is warning the public that the banks around the river
