Off-leash dog kills wild turkey downtown

An organization that rescues birds injured by hitting buildings wants to find the dog owner who let his dog kill a wild turkey on Sparks Street on Tuesday.
A young female turkey was foraging on Sparks, possibly after wandering along the Ottawa River or Rideau Canal, said Anouk Hoedeman of Safe Wings Ottawa.
Hoedeman checked on the bird. It seemed fine, and turkeys are protected by provincial law: people can’t move them far away if they show up in the city.
