No good deed goes unpunished: Good Samaritan's truck tumbles into sinkhole
A Good Samaritan who stopped to help a woman in an overturned car on Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard watched in dismay as his truck sank into a hole that opened when a broken fire hydrant gushed water onto the street.
Ottawa police responded to the initial crash at about 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Sgt. Mark Gatien said a woman fell asleep at the wheel of her car, went off the road, knocked a fire hydrant from its pedestal, and rolled her vehicle onto its side near the corner of Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard
