Mayor directs city officials to plan ahead for pot shops

Mayor Jim Watson directed city officials on Wednesday to compile as much information as they can on the province’s new pot store scheme in hopes of providing the next council with the crucial answers it will need to make decisions on cannabis stores, including where in the city they’d be allowed to operate.
The marijuana file is moving at a smoking-fast pace for Ontario municipalities — it becomes legal in Canada on Oct. 17 and, in this province, privately-run shops will be all
